Work with a PMVC therapist and build a better mental health care team, faster
As you work together, you and your therapist may decide to talk to a doctor or psychiatrist to explore a clinical diagnosis or medication options. It’s important to your mental health, but it can often take a long time to get an appointment, or you might need to travel a long distance to be seen. Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Collaboration (PMVC) changes that.

Look for the PMVC icon
PMVC therapists are certified in Collaborative Care and are able to work directly with psychiatrists and doctors—often in weeks, not months. Look for the PMVC symbol as you browse profiles, or start a filtered search by clicking the button below.
Therapists who are with you every step of the way
Collaborative Care brings therapists, psychiatrists, and family doctors together so they can work as a team. This means less waiting, fewer appointments, and better communication between everyone involved—so you feel supported every step of the way.

What kinds of therapists are on Psychotherapy Matters?
Psychotherapy Matters includes regulated therapists from a range of professional backgrounds, therapeutic approaches, and areas of practice.
Because every therapist is different, the directory is designed to help you explore options and find someone whose experience, style, and way of working feel like a good fit for you.
Some therapists have joined Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Collaboration (PMVC). These therapists value a more collaborative model of care, including coordination with other health professionals when appropriate.
The goal is simple: to make it easier to find a therapist who is right for your needs
What’s the difference between a psychotherapist and a psychiatrist?
Psychotherapists and psychiatrists both support mental health care, but they play different roles. Psychotherapists provide psychotherapy and ongoing therapeutic support. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and can assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication when needed as well as make psychotherapy suggestions. Depending on your needs, one or both may be helpful as part of your care.
