Meet Nick, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who is working towards completing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Nick is caring with an optimistic outlook and strives to connect and collaborate with individuals on various life domains to support their well-being and personal health. Nick is passionate about increasing mental health care access and works with individuals 16 years and older.

Nick:

I have grown my experience, knowledge and education over 20 years in clinical and leadership positions in mental health. I have had the pleasure of working with a diverse group of individuals in community mental health and addiction organizations as well as hospital-based settings over my career. I have experience and an interest in working with individuals who experience challenges related to trauma, substance use and addictions, anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, intellectual disabilities, and interpersonal difficulties. I am encouraged by the resiliency and variety of skills that people possess, and I work from a place that looks to empower and reflect upon individual strengths and motivation.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based psychotherapy techniques to align with individual needs, and I take a respect-oriented and client-centered approach to treatment that is safe and affirmative to all identities. I have a keen interest in humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, narrative, and solution-focused approaches. I have formal training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing (MI).

Outside of my professional life, I am a partner and a proud father to two children. I enjoy camping, skiing, cooking, board games, playing music, and taking in live music with family and friends.
