Many of the challenges people experience in adulthood have their roots in earlier life experiences.
Our nervous systems develop in relation to the environments we grow up in. Early experiences, including how caregivers respond to distress, emotional needs, and adversity, shape how we learn to regulate emotions, relate to others, and experience ourselves in the world.
When early experiences involve instability, emotional neglect, trauma, or chronic stress, the nervous system adapts in ways that help us survive at the time. In adulthood, these adaptations may show up as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship conflict, difficulties with trust or intimacy, people-pleasing, anger, or feeling stuck in patterns that can be difficult to understand.
My work focuses on helping people understand how past experiences shape present patterns, and on supporting the process of healing and meaningful change.
With extensive knowledge of human development, attachment, and the effects of adversity on the developing nervous system from early childhood through adulthood, I help clients explore how early adaptations, attachment patterns, and unresolved trauma can influence emotional regulation, relationships, and sense of self later in life.
Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable individuals who feel confused by the intensity of their emotional reactions or by recurring patterns in their relationships. Often, these patterns begin to make sense once we understand the developmental experiences that shaped them.
Together we work to:
• understand how early experiences shape emotional and relational patterns
• explore attachment styles and relationship dynamics
• process unresolved trauma held in the nervous system
• develop new ways of responding to stress, conflict, and emotional triggers
• build a stronger and more grounded sense of self
I also work with couples who want to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and rebuild emotional safety. My couples work integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), which focus on attachment, nervous system regulation, and helping partners learn to respond to one another in ways that strengthen connection and security.
For many couples and individuals, intimacy and sexual connection are deeply connected to emotional safety, attachment, and past experiences. Difficulties with desire, vulnerability, trust, or sexual connection often reflect deeper relational patterns rather than simply physical concerns. I work with individuals and couples to explore these dynamics in a safe and respectful way, helping clients develop greater comfort, communication, and connection in their intimate relationships.
For parents, understanding how children develop emotionally and neurologically can make an enormous difference in family life. I support parents in understanding their child’s behaviour through a developmental and attachment-informed lens, helping them respond to emotional needs, build secure relationships, and navigate challenges such as emotional regulation, anxiety, behavioural struggles, and family stress. Parenting work often focuses on strengthening connections, improving communication, and helping children develop the emotional skills they need to thrive.
My approach is trauma-informed, neuroscience-based, and deeply compassionate. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including EMDR, attachment-based therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, PACT, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and somatic approaches that support nervous system regulation.
Healing is not about blaming the past. It is about understanding how the past shaped the present so that new patterns can emerge.
Many clients describe our work together as helping them finally understand themselves in a deeper and more meaningful way.
If you are seeking a therapist who brings both clinical expertise and a thoughtful understanding of human development, trauma, relationships, and intimacy, I would be honoured to support you on your journey.
When I'm not in the role of therapist, I spend time riding my motorcycle on country roads, gardening, exploring nature trails, and enjoying family time.
