Nicole has spent a few solid years, leading into 2018 and onward of research, embodied interactions in communities and corporate knowledge, after spending over 18+ years of professional experience working with historically ignored, vulnerable and oppressed communities, individuals, families and children. These communities suffer from mental health, addictions, systemic poverty and profiling and my intention is to therapeutically improve relationships with programs and services, integrating trust and support within the cracks of our mental health care system. Nicole continues to bring awareness to the underpinnings of why emotional health is our mental health.
My approach through both clinical supervision and with client, recognizes the intimate relationship between the physical body and the psychological well-being of a person. I hold the view that the body is a resource for self-discovery and psychological healing. I have been trained in psychodynamic therapy, trauma, addiction, and body-based psychotherapy practices including trauma-sensitive-trauma-centred yoga (TSTCY). I work predominately with adults of marginalized groups, LGBTQ2S+ and survivors of trauma.

Success Story
I have been invited to work with University of Guelph and the Wilfred Laurier University to incorporate embodied trauma work for students as part of lectures and/or counselling services for post secondary students surviving mental health barriers. I am currently working alongside David Emerson at The Center for Trauma and Embodiment at the Justice Resource Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, until March 2019 when I maintain certification requirements. David Emerson coined the term “trauma-sensitive yoga” with the author and psychiatrist Dr. Bessel van de Kolk. I have begun facilitating this unique trauma brain work, through trauma yoga groups in the Cambridge, ON area. I've also continued to work in my area of research of healing the 'inner wounded child' in adult survivors.
