Christine Sternat MA, RP, (Cert) OAMHP is a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and a compassionate professional whose work with individuals, couples and families is collaborative. She is an experienced therapist and a certified member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP).
Christine is also a Certified Practitioner of the Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories™ Protocol.Christine's experience as a therapist includes work in private practice and a community mental health agency, as well as in school settings to deal with behavioural problems and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Currently, she works with clients with a variety of issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, communication or relationship problems, parenting concerns, family conflict, and mid-life and career transitions.
Christine is committed to improving lives and providing a supportive, encouraging and confidential environment for individuals, couples and families to address their personal difficulties. Her gentle guidance, support and encouragement help clients make the changes they want in their lives, relationships or careers.
She also counsels clients through Employee Assistance programs.Christine received her Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. She is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She has additional certification in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories™ Protocol, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming(NLP) and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI).
She believes that childrens' early and emotional experiences affect their future potential and growth. Christine offers group and individual anxiety prevention programs and is certified to facilitate the Friends for Life program, an evidence-based program for children.Formerly an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Montessori teacher who owned and operated a private Montessori School in the Markham and Unionville area, Christine has held numerous parent education workshops.
