Julie Anderson is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Her educational background includes a Master of Arts in Psychological Counselling (In Progress), Master of Education, Bachelor of Education, and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology).

While employed for the Ontario government Julie provided psychoeducation and health promotion programs to children and adults within a large school board. She’s experienced in creating positive change and believes everyone has the capacity to overcome challenges through respectful understanding, collaboration, and effective goal setting.

Julie actively listens, without judgement, to better understand the issues her patients are experiencing. She determines a specific focus for treatment. Working together, Julie will outline realistic, action-oriented goals for improved health and healing. Drawing on relevant interventions, strategies, and supervisory support, she has proven skilled at facilitating positive change for individual clients, couples, and therapeutic groups.

Julie builds-up her client’s resilience.

Julie strongly believes each person holds within themselves the strength and ability to overcome all challenges life puts before them. She believes that by empowering clients to identify and make meaningful change, and by helping them recognize their vulnerabilities, and seizing on their own self-compassion through daily tasks, their strengths will ultimately surface and steer them toward wellness.

Therapy should be non-judgmental.

Julie approaches therapy in a warm, non-judgmental way, while also being honest and direct. She believes trust and integrity are essential elements for a therapeutic alliance to be entirely successful.

Julie takes a strength based approach.

A big part of Julie’s philosophy and approach is to eliminate stress and help the client reach their individual goals with less stress in their minds and bodies. Her work facilitates personal growth and builds self-confidence. By focusing on the client’s goals (person centered), and not the therapists, she’s able to be wholly present, and to listen and engage fully with the individual and know their story and recognize and address their expectations.

Therapy thrives in a safe environment.
Julie’s experience in various roles has given her the opportunity to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds. As such, she knows the important of recognizing and respecting OTCs wide range of clientele in terms of age and ethnicity. Julie works to foster a safe environment which promotes equality, inclusion, and diversity and a space in which her clients feel safe to unpack their vulnerabilities and emotional burdens.
