Amanda is a Registered Social Worker having completed the Master of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University. She also holds an honours Psychology degree from Wilfrid Laurier University with a minor in Biology and completed the Addictions and Mental Health program at Humber College.
Amanda has experience supporting people struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and emotional dysregulation in a variety of individual and group settings including the child welfare system, mental health services, and church programming.
Amanda is the Co-Founder and Director of Development & Fundraising for Marafiki Pamoja which provides lunch and programming that promotes whole-person health, positive social skills, and intercultural understanding and relationships for children in Nairobi, Kenya. Her current role is primarily in fundraising and promotion while the local team of volunteers have taken on the task of program delivery.
She understands that each client is unique and as a therapist her goal is to build a therapeutic relationship that can foster growth and highlight the resilience of the client. She supports clients in setting goals and developing strategies to help them meet these goals and live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
Amanda was born and raised in Waterloo, and in her spare time enjoys golfing, travelling, cheering on the Blue Jays, re-watching Grey’s Anatomy, and eating tacos.
