Originally from the Maritimes, I have worked locally in the field of mental health since graduating in 2006 from the Masters in Educational Counselling program at the University of Ottawa. Starting in 2008, my professional experiences became focused on trauma treatment and in 2010, I opened my Private Practice. Although an area of specialization is working with men who identify as survivors of sexual trauma and/or childhood sexual abuse, I work with all gender identities. Additionally, I can address issues related to addiction, anxiety, anger management, PTSD, dissociation, depression, relationships, sexuality, identity, LGBT issues, and issues relating to men's wellness.

Though I do not restrict myself to any single therapeutic modality, those that influence my work are attachment and psychodynamic perspectives, emotion-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioural strategies. More contemporary methods I incorporate are compassion-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), schema therapy, and mindfulness. Most recently, I have completed specialized training in the area of Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) with Dr. Jonice Webb, an American psychologist who identified the term. Finally, I am working toward becoming certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) after having completed the Advanced Level training in April 2022. Ultimately, I hope to guide your ability to access your inner strengths, wisdom, and compassion. Working first to establish a safe space is an important step in helping you begin your therapeutic process.

I have previously been a provider to national and local EAP services and served as a Board Member with the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma. My work experience has included involvement with a number of Ottawa-area agencies. Those with whom I have worked include the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, the agency formerly known as The Men’s Project (now Men & Healing), and the Centre for Treatment of Sexual Abuse and Childhood Trauma (CTSACT).

I attempt to return all messages (phone, text, or e-mail) within 24-48 hours.
