Cathy Blocki-Radeke is a Registered Social Worker with the College of Ontario Social Worker and Social Service Workers of Ontario (OCSWSSW). She has completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph, her Bachelor of Social Work degree from York University, and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto.
Cathy has over 25 years of experience in the field of Mental Health as a Registered Social Worker. She is highly experienced in working with adults, families, teens, and children through a range of challenges, including times of transition, coping skills, questions around identity and/or sexuality, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationship issues, problems with school or work, and parenting challenges. She welcomes the opportunity to work with members of the 2SLGBTQA+ community.

Cathy supports clients who have experienced trauma by utilizing Trauma Informed Therapy, which ensures that the therapy process is sensitive to the impact of trauma on the client’s life. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to help clients process traumatic experiences, develop coping mechanisms, and build resilience. Mindfulness-Based Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) are also employed to assist clients in managing trauma-related stress and emotions, fostering a sense of safety and stability.
When supporting clients diagnosed with ADHD, Cathy employs a combination of therapeutic modalities to address specific challenges such as organization, time management, and focus. She also uses Systems Therapy to help clients understand and improve their interactions within various social contexts, such as family and work. Mindfulness-Based Therapy is often integrated to enhance attention and reduce impulsivity, while Strengths Based Therapy helps clients recognize and leverage their inherent strengths to manage their ADHD symptoms effectively.
When working with clients on anger management and emotion regulation, Cathy incorporates Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to teach skills such as distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is used to identify and modify thought patterns that contribute to anger and emotional dysregulation. Additionally, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) helps clients understand and process their emotions, while Mindfulness-Based Therapy is employed to increase awareness and control over emotional reactions. Motivational Interviewing is also utilized to encourage clients to find and maintain the motivation to change problematic behaviors.
Cathy believes that Mental Health is a journey and that everyone has unique stories full of opportunity and growth. She adopts a strength-based and client-centered approach to therapy, striving to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where every client is heard and understood. Cathy believes that individuals are unique and so are their challenges. She views clients as the experts of their own lives and is there to walk alongside them when they need extra help on their journey of healing and growth.
She believes that every therapeutic relationship is a collaborative one, with a focus on establishing and maintaining a safe and trusting relationship. This forms the foundation upon which clients can create the change they are looking for and move forward in their lives in a meaningful way.
In her practice, Cathy utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused approaches. By creating a supportive therapeutic relationship, she draws upon clients' existing strengths and helps them use existing tools or develop new tools and strategies to reach their goals.
