Sabrina Golchin is a progressive and practical thinker. She has years of experience working with children, youth, parents, families, and individuals. She holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver, British Columbia. In the course of her career, she has worked with diverse populations, and has provided assistance to clients of all age groups with a variety of clinical issues. Sabrina believes in turning a crisis into opportunity, and brings this guiding value to her work with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma issues as well as her work with family transition.
Sabrina builds her practice on a deep appreciation for the unique value of each individual, and makes a point of assisting each client in a manner that is relevant to their present lives. She focuses on empowering her clients to find their voice, wisdom, and strength, and enabling them to recognize their potential. She operates from an Attachment framework and her approach to counselling is holistic, which involves the integration of mind, body, and soul. She provides a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to explore internal thoughts, feelings, conflicts, traumas, and experiences. When obstacles to personal, relational, and professional growth are identified, Sabrina will assist her clients in developing strategies to transform these obstacles to growth. In time, this guided exploration will help clients to understand, own, and change the patterns that dictate the quality of their lives.
During her sessions, Sabrina is highly attuned to the client’s experience. She is compassionate, yet direct enough to provide a productive and appropriately challenging space for clients to meet their therapeutic goals. In this process, she uses cutting edge techniques. Sabrina pulls on practical and effective tools such as Mindfulness, CBT, Guided Imagery, Play and Art Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Lifespan Integration. She is not afraid to dig in, and brings her considerable skill and experience to the clients that she works with. She is skilled at assisting clients to trace the roots of their anxieties and inhibitions, and then developing the confidence and tools to overcome these challenges.
In addition to clinical expertise, Sabrina is a faculty at the Monarch School of Business in Switzerland. There, she teaches Theories of Counselling to students in the Department of Applied Leadership and Coaching in an online format. She is also passionate about contributing to the community. Her training and experience have afforded her the opportunity to serve the community in various capacities. She has managed contracts and large teams of staff and has developed programs that offer support to children, youth, and parents. She has provided supervision and case management support regarding some of the most complicated family, children, and youth cases. Furthermore, she provides consultation and training on issues of diversity, ethical clinical practice, and youth and child program development. These experiences have given Sabrina an acute awareness and expertise of the needs of the individual, families, and community she continues to serves.
