What is Individual Therapy?
1. You will meet one-on-one with a therapist (that’s why it’s called individual therapy). This is the most common arrangement for psychotherapy.
2. Your therapist may offer any of the many specific types of therapy (read more in the FAQ about different types of therapy).
3. The benefit of therapy (or lack of benefit) depends on the quality of connection that you establish with your therapist. This is called the “therapeutic alliance” and it is just as important as the particular methods or techniques used during your sessions.
