Accepting new clients
Member of College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO)
My name is Dr. Marianne O'Byrne, owner and psychologist at Thrive. I work alongside five wonderful psychotherapists who are accepting new clients under my supervision. We have a breadth of experience providing assessment and treatment for adults with anxiety and mood disorders In addition, we have special interests in two spheres: 1) PTSD, including with first responders (including WSIB, VAC, RCMP) and 2) perinatal difficulties (e.g., new parents, postpartum depression and anxiety, traumatic birth). We also enjoy assessing and treating for stress management, self-esteem, and other interpersonal and behavioral difficulties.
Primarily, we practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). We also apply elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema-focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-based approaches when appropriate. We adopt a flexible approach to meet clients’ individual needs and treatment goals and am able to offer treatment in French.
We are passionate about our work in helping clients understand and address their difficulties by focusing on unmet emotional needs, building on existing strengths to improve resilience and emotion regulation skills, and paying attention to the interplay of thoughts, physical reactions, and behaviour. We are here to help. We offer reduced rates services when working with a placement student under Dr. O'Byrne's supervision.
